Winnipeg peace activists added their voices, today, to the growing chorus of Canadians who insist that US war resisters be permitted to remain in Canada. Calling on the federal government to honour the Parliamentary vote to grant permanent resident status to war resisters, demonstrators picketed the constituency office of Winnipeg South Tory MP Rod Bruinooge.
Spokesperson Michael Welch was interviewed by several journalists during the information picket in front of Bruinooge’s office. (For reasons not disclosed by the office workers, the doors were locked before the normal closing time of 5:00 PM.)
