October 28 is a Canada wide day of action organized by the Canadian Peace Alliance to oppose Canada’s participation in the continuing occupation of Afghanistan. More than 2000 Canadian troops are participating in what amounts to an undeclared war against forces opposed to the occupation and the present regime of Hamid Karzai.
The Peace Alliance Winnipeg is holding a march and rally followed by a People’s Forum at the Universtiy of Winnipeg’s Bulman Centre as part of the October 28 Day of Action.
The march gets underway at 1 p.m. from Central Park. It ends at the University of Winnipeg where the People’s Forum will be held in the Bulman Centre. The forum will open with remarks from Michel Chussodovsky, Professor of Economics at the Universtiy of Ottawa. He is Director, Centre for Research on Globalization. His most recent books are “Globalization of Poverty” (2004, 2nd Ed.) and “America’s War on Terrorism” (2005). He has authored numerous articles on the economics and politics of international crises and war from a geo-political perspective.
Please contact the Peace Alliance Winnipeg if you wish to help organize for the march or the People’s Forum. The People’s Forum is still in the planning stages and all are welcome to make a contribution to this.
