Thanks to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), millions of Canadians are being forced to invest their retirement savings in many of the world’s largest war industries, from those making nuclear weapons, to major contractors for the infamous F-35 warplane. CPP investments include eight of the world’s top-ten weapons manufacturers. Besides investing in the deadly tools of war and repression, the CPP’s portfolio includes many of the world’s largest oil, mining, tobacco and sweatshop profiteers.
Richard Sanders is the writer and researcher of Press for Conversion, a highly informative newsletter published by the Ottawa-based Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade (COAT) which was formed in 1988. His research is unique and highly regarded. You can find out more at http://coat.ncf.ca.
