Cuban Parliamentarian Visit

A parliamentarian from Cuba – a member of the National Assembly of People’s Power – will be on a cross-Canada tour from March 21st – April 5th. Juan Carlos Rodriguez Diaz is also a Professor of History and the Historian of the City of Pinar del Rio, the capital of Pinar del Rio state in western Cuba.
He will be speaking in Winnipeg on Saturday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m in the Multi-Purpose Room of South Osborne Place, 360 Osborne Street.
Juan Carlos will be accompanied by Yamil Martinez Marrero, the Senior Official of the Canada Desk of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples(ICAP). This is Yamil’s second visit to Winnipeg – he was here last June and spoke at the Ukrainian Labour Temple.
Juan Carlos will speak about elections and democracy in Cuba, as well as life in general under the U.S. blockade now approaching its 60th year. Yamil will speak about the upcoming 26th Che Guevara Volunteer Work Brigade from Canada to Cuba, taking place April 22 – May 6 this spring.
